R&D, Commercialization and Process Improvement Capabilities

Ohio offers world class universities and globally recognized wind research and technology development that will improve the odds of commercial success. In 2008, $25 million has been made available for advanced energy innovations including wind. Ohio is the only state that has two major federal research laboratories, NASA Glenn Research Center and Air Force Research Laboratory, with extensive research capabilities focused on propulsion and materials-research on breakthrough technologies for wind development.

Case Western Reserve University - For nearly 200 years, Case has held a reputation as one of the finest research universities in the United States, including a top 50 ranking last year for large research institutions. Case recently announced the creation of the Great Lakes Institute for Energy Innovation in its School of Engineering.

University of Dayton Research Institute and its close partnership with Wright Patterson Air Force Base has allowed the University of Dayton to transition seamlessly into wind research and leverage experience in the wind energy market.
